Education for All is a Caras Alegres initiative that aims to reduce the educational barriers faced by children and youth in vulnerable communities in Quetzaltenango.

 

Following the challenges intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic, many families continue to struggle to cover basic educational costs, increasing the risk of absenteeism and school dropout.

As part of this project, we reached an important milestone with the distribution of 34 fully equipped backpacks to children and youth from Cantón Xeúl and Barrio Las Rosas, achieving more than 50% of the project’s goal. Each backpack contains essential school supplies—such as notebooks, pencils, crayons, rulers, and erasers—allowing students to attend school prepared, motivated, and with dignity, while easing the financial burden on their families.

Beyond the distribution of backpacks, Education for All includes ongoing accompaniment and awareness-raising activities throughout the year. These efforts aim to strengthen children’s and youth’s connection to education, reinforce learning as a fundamental right, and foster motivation, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging within the educational community.
