Our Community
The heart of our work in Cantón Xeúl
The beneficiary families of our programs reside in Cantón Xeúl, located within the Las Rosas neighborhood in the city of Quetzaltenango.
The majority of these families live in poverty or below the poverty line, facing multiple social and economic challenges.

The Challenges We Face

The limited availability of economic opportunities contributes to issues such as:
Crime, violence,
and alcoholism.
Low schooling and school dropout rates (many children must work to help their families).
Teenage
pregnancy.
Malnutrition and related health problems (such as diabetes and hypertension).
Persistence of cultural patterns such as machismo, gender stereotypes, and the absence of father figures.

Our Approach

Historically, education has not been a priority for many families in the community. Our fundamental goal is to promote a change of perspective, fostering education as the key tool to create new opportunities and break the cycle of poverty.
